A quick glimpse...
What is Kahel Linux?
Kahel Linux Distro is based on Arch Linux. Its Kahel Linux Desktop is a first distro on Arch Linux + GNOME to also have rolling-release model. The Kahel Server and Desktop distribution aims to provide the most up-to-date and comfortable Linux OS distribution optimized for i686 and x86-64.
What is rolling-release model?
Rolling-release model is an update system that synchronize packages with the current available versions to be used immediately without waiting for a new release of the OS.
Why rolling-release?
While other Linux distributions are locked in the previous versions supported by their package managers, Kahel Linux is a breathe of fresh air that will bring users with the most up-to-date upstream versions of Linux applications, where users will not have to wait for months for a new release in order to use the latest versions.
Is synchronization model “unstable”?
There are 3 kinds of repository that we get our packages from, “core”, “community” and “testing”. All the new applications will have to be put on the “testing” repository for extensive testing before it can be moved to “community” and “core”. We only use the “core” and “community” versions.
Initially, Here are some of the features:
- It is based on a Rolling Release Model - Genuine Upstream Source
- Utilizing the Linux Kernel 2.6.32 (and get the latest kernel release).
- Kahel is using all the default and suggested applications for Gnome, which makes everything tightly integrated. Default Gnome Applications for Office, Multi-Media and Web- Browsing.
- Supports for latest NILFS2, BTRFS by default. Support for Next Generation Technologies
- Utilizing Pacman and gtkpacman
- Source Code Installation-Capable
- All applications is i686 and x86-64 optimized
- Most of all, IT is FREE as IT is our gift to all. IT is an innovation of a dedicated and passionate team that espouses the same values and philosophy Kahel OS has.
